NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Course $250

The class is at least 15 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.

  • -Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet
  • -Course completion certificate

Note: A portion of this course involves Live Fire exercises and requires a shooting pre-qualification: candidates are responsible for providing their own firearm and ammunition.

Other Pre-requisites:

  • A shooting pre-qualification test
  • 90% or better on written Basic Pistol Student Examination
  • 6 hr NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) must be completed prior to subject matter modules

    Upon successful completion of the course and Pistol Shooting Pre-qualification, the instructor candidate will have attained the ability to TEACH the knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. 

    The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

    NRA Range Safety Officers must be 21 years of age or older. The Range Safety Officer course consists of:

    • -Range Safety Officer's roles and responsibilities
    • -Range standard operating procedures
    • -Range inspection and range rules
    • -Firearm stoppages and malfunctions
    • -Range Safety Briefings which include emergency procedures.

    • Candidates must also receive 90 percent or better on the written exam.

    The Range Safety Officer course is a nine-hour course that consists of classroom time and practical exercises. Range Safety Officer candidates will receive the Range Safety Officer Student Packet.

    ASP Tactical Baton® training. What You Learn in the ASP Tactical Baton Courses:

    • -carrying, drawing, and proper striking techniques
    • -mechanical function and maintenance of your Asp Baton

    Every student should have gym clothes (something you can freely and comfortably move in, be prepared to sweat) shoes with good linear support such as running or athletic shoes with some arch support.) Your Asp Baton, scabbard and duty belt.

    This is an eight (8) hour course, we will break for lunch. There are a variety of places to eat in the area or if you prefer you can bring your own and eat in the training area.
